Louňovice pod Blaníkem (German: Launiowitz) is a market town in Benešov District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 700 inhabitants.

Geography

Louňovice pod Blaníkem lies about 20 kilometres (12 mi) southeast of Benešov. It is located in the Vlašim Uplands. The municipal territory includes the mountain of Blaník, which is notable for Czechs as the object of one of the most popular national legends. The peak of Velký Blaník is 638 m (2,093 ft) above sea level and is the highest point in the municipality.
