The Camel Leg Amputation Incident was a controversial event that occurred on 14 June 2024 in Sanghar, Sindh, Pakistan.[1]

Camel Leg Amputation Incident

On June 14, 2024, a disturbing incident occurred in the Mundh Jamrao area of Sanghar, Pakistan. A camel entered a private agricultural field, leading to a violent response from the landlord and his employees. The camel was subjected to physical torture, resulting in the amputation of one of its legs as a form of punishment. [2]

The incident gained widespread attention after a video of the abuse was shared on social media platforms, sparking outrage and condemnation from the public. Despite the backlash, the initial police response was to register a First Information Report (FIR) against unknown individuals, rather than the landlord and employees directly involved in the incident.

The Sanghar Camel Abuse Incident has raised concerns about animal welfare and cruelty in Pakistan, with many calling for stronger action against those responsible.

The injured camel was transferred to Karachi and is scheduled to receive a prosthetic leg.[3][4]

The Sindh government and animal welfare organizations launched an investigation into the incident. Five suspects were arrested and a case was registered against them under animal cruelty laws.

The incident highlighted concerns about animal welfare in Pakistan and led to calls for stricter laws and enforcement to prevent animal cruelty.
