WSYY (1240 AM) is a radio station licensed to Millinocket, Maine, United States. The station serves the Northern and Downeast Maine area, from sun-up to sun-down, broadcasting only on weekends (but not between Monday-through-Friday). The station is currently owned by Katahdin Broadcasting, Inc.[1] The station currently features programming from CBS News Radio and carries its newscasts at the top of every hour (and has been an affiliate of that network for many decades), as well as having covered University of Maine Black Bears sports in the past.[2][3] The station had also carried local high school sports for many years, but had more recently discontinued those offerings. WSYY had been silent for much of the late-2010's through early-2021 but had served as a part-time simulcast of co-owned WSYY-FM a couple times a year (in order to maintain its license) throughout the late 2010's through early-2021 and had also meanwhile hinted (from mid-2017 through early-2021) on simulcasting over a new FM translator (at 102.5 MHz) in the future, when it resumed operations.[4] On April 2, 2021, 1240 WSYY returned to the air and translator, 102.5 W273DJ debuted with the Opening Game of the Boston Red Sox.[5][6] Co-owned WSYY-FM had previously carried the complete schedule of Red Sox Baseball[7] (from 1997 through 2015,[8] when Millinocket's affiliation with the Boston Red Sox Radio Network would ultimately be transferred over to WSYY). Complications in the licensing process[9][10] would cause 102.5 W273DJ delays[11] towards being officially licensed for operations by the FCC until April 1, 2022,[12] nearly a year after its License To Cover was initially filed. Much of the broadcast schedule of WSYY/W273DJ centers around Boston Red Sox games, the station otherwise serving as a simulcast of co-owned WSYY-FM during limited hours of their broadcast day. There is no website for WSYY/W273DJ, apart from a mention of WSYY on the Boston Red Sox broadcast affiliate listings page of the WEEI website. WSYY-AM-FM are unusual in that while stations are authorized to broadcast 24 hours a day, the stations both have sign-offs every day (WSYY signing off at the end of Boston Red Sox games and WSYY-FM broadcasting for approximately 18⅓ hours per day, 7 days a week (from 4:55 am through 11:15 pm ET)).

Translators

In addition to the main station, WSYY is relayed by an FM translator.
