Volodymyr (Vlad) Levykin (born February 1976) is a CEO and founder of UK private space company Skyrora.[1][2][3]

Biography

Levykin was born in Zaporizhzhia, where he graduated from Zaporizhya National Technical University with a Master's degree in Computer Science.[4][5][6]

While working in Silicon Valley, Volodymyr decided to move with his family to Edinburgh and start a space startup.[7]

Levykin founded rocket company Skyrora in 2017 in the UK. It’s based in Edinburgh.[8][9] Private investors were involved in the development of the company.[10][11]

Levykin makes Skyrora ecologically-sustainable by investing in eco-fuel for rockets.[12][13][14]

For his sustainability-directed activities, Volodymyr was recognised as Entrepreneur of the Year in Aerospace & Defence by The Stevie Awards.

In 2021, Levykin announced the creation of the Orbital Transfer Vehicle (OTV) able to perform satellite removal, refuelling and replacement and debris removal from orbit.[15][16][17][18] During the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Levykin partly relocated his Skyrora’s team to Edinburgh.[19][20]
