TRADER Corporation is a classified advertising company based in Toronto, Canada. The company specializes in new and used motor vehicles and is owned by Thoma Bravo. The company was originally a part of Trader Classified Media which was founded in 1987 by John MacBain.

History

Trader Corporation was formed in June 2006 with the integration of Classified Media (Canada) Holdings Inc. (more commonly known as Trader Canada) and Trader Media Corp. The two companies were acquired by Yellow Pages Income Fund from Trader Classified Media that same year. Yellow Pages purchased Classified Media (Canada) Holdings Inc. for $760 million and Trader Media Corp. for $436 million.[4]

In July 2010, Trader Corporation acquired CanadianDriver.com, which offered Canada-focused automotive reviews and resources, and rebranded it as Autos.ca.[5][6] Autos.ca was merged into AutoTrader.ca in 2016.[7]

In March 2011, Yellow Pages sold its Trader Corp. division to Apax Partners for $745 million.[8][9]

In June 2012, Trader Corp. stopped publishing the Auto Trader magazine and several of its other magazines and pushed a move towards online car advertising.[10]

In 2016, Apax sold Trader Corp. to Thoma Bravo for Can$1.57 billion (US$1.22 billion).[11]

AutoTrader.ca (French: AutoHebdo.net) is an online automotive classifieds advertising website servicing Canada operated by Trader Corporation. It is the main consumer product of the Trader Corporation.[12] An app with the same name is available on Google Play and the AppStore.

The AutoTrader.ca site and app also features automotive news, reviews, and a vehicle information database in English and French.
