The Whoopi Goldberg Show was an American late-night talk show hosted by comedian Whoopi Goldberg that aired in syndication from September 1992 through September 1993 for a total of 112 normal episodes for a 30-minute timeslot Monday through Friday nights (in some markets after 12 AM). There were also 19 hour-long episodes, subtitled "Take Two", that aired Saturday nights (or after midnight) featuring 2 repeat episodes, each led with about a 30 second introduction by the host. Instead of credits after the first repeat, the show ended with a minute-long combined and extended credits not seen after the original episodes.
Overview
Each show featured one guest who sat across from Goldberg and was interviewed, or musician(s) who played music (the exception being The Temptations). Goldberg's first guest was Academy Award winner Elizabeth Taylor which aired Monday September 14,1992 and the last guest was G. Gordon Liddy which aired on Monday May 10, 1993, with repeats running the next 4 months. Other guests ranged from political figures (such as Al Gore and Al Sharpton); athletes (e.g. Bo Jackson and Evander Holyfield); comedians (e.g. Carol Burnett and Andrew Dice Clay); musicians (e.g. Jimmy Buffett and Elton John); and actors and others, some of whom she worked with on stage and in movies (e.g. Robin Williams, Billy Crystal and Ted Danson). Four guests appeared in 2-part episodes, aired on subsequent nights: Rob Reiner, Jack Lemmon, Eartha Kitt, and The Temptations. There was no studio audience, but the crew's laughter can be heard. There was no band per-se, but Jerry Peters played piano. [1]
