Usage
To avoid needlessly cluttering up talk pages, it is usually appropriate to remove any unused parameters when placing the template on an article's talk page. A common initial configuration for the template includes the following basic parameters:
{{Project Apple Inc. |class= |importance=}}
The following example contains all possible parameters. Again, it is usually appropriate to delete any unused parameters.
{{Project Apple Inc.|class= |b1= |b2= |b3= |b4= |b5= |b6= |importance= |mac= |mac-importance= |needs-image= |ib= |screenshot= |small= |listas= |category=}}
Legend
- class – valid values are listed in the custom class mask. See the project's quality scale for details. B-class checklist (available only when
|class=stub
|class=start
|class=c
or|class=b
):- b1 – Referencing and citation (see the project's B-class criteria for details).
- b2 – Coverage and accuracy (see the project's B-class criteria for details).
- b3 – Structure (see the project's B-class criteria for details).
- b4 – Grammar and style (see the project's B-class criteria for details).
- b5 – Supporting materials (see the project's B-class criteria for details).
- b6 – Accessibility (see the project's B-class criteria for details).
- Set these to "yes" or "y" if the article meets the criterion; "no" or "n" if it does not. If the criterion has not been checked, omit the parameter or leave it with a blank value. When
|class=b
is set, all six criteria need to be satisfied, otherwise the article is treated as if|class=c
were set.
- importance – valid values are listed in the custom importance mask. See the project's importance scale for details.
- mac – set
|mac=yes
if the article is supported by Macintosh task force.- This parameter populates Category:Macintosh articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Macintosh articles by quality based upon the
|class=
parameter. - mac-importance (only used if
|mac=yes
is set; uses the same values as|importance=
) – Importance rating within Macintosh task force- This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Macintosh articles by importance.
- This parameter populates Category:Macintosh articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Macintosh articles by quality based upon the
- needs-image – set
|needs-image=yes
if the article needs an image.- This parameter populates Category:Apple Inc. articles needing images.
- needs-infobox – set
|needs-infobox=yes
to mark the page as needing an infobox.- This parameter populates Category:Apple Inc. articles needing an infobox.
- screenshot – set
|screenshot=yes
if the article needs a screenshot.- This parameter populates Category:Apple Inc. articles needing screenshot.
- listas – This parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for Steve Jobs, use
|listas=Jobs, Steve
so that the talk page will show up in the J's and not the S's of the various assessment and administrative categories). This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter. For more information about this, please see Justapedia:Categorization of people § Ordering names in a category.
It is not required if another Project template on the same page has its own|listas=
set, since it not only affects categories used by the banner in which it is set, but it also affects the sortkey of all other banners and templates. - auto – This parameter is for the use of bots and indicates that the article has been automatically rated:DCDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
|auto=length
– based on the length of the article|auto=inherit
– because one or more other projects use this class|auto=yes
(or|auto=stub
), in conjunction with|class=stub
– as Stub-Class because it uses a stub template- Use of the above values (or value combinations) with this parameter populates Category:Automatically assessed Apple Inc. articles.
- category – set
|category=no
if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.
Aliases
- The parameters
|needs-photo=
and|photo=
are recognised as aliases for|needs-image=
. If more than one is present,|needs-photo=
has precedence over|photo=
, and|needs-image=
has precedence over both of the others: parameters with lower precedence are ignored. - The parameter
|ib=
is recognised as an alias for|needs-infobox=
. If both|needs-infobox=
and|ib=
are present,|ib=
is ignored.
