Sasso Pisano is a village in Tuscany, central Italy, administratively a frazione of the comune of Castelnuovo di Val di Cecina, province of Pisa. At the time of the 2001 census its population was 213.[1]

Sasso Pisano is about 102 km from Pisa and 9 km from Castelnuovo di Val di Cecina.

The mineral sassolite was named after Sasso Pisano. It was found in lagoons throughout Tuscany and Sasso[2] and was the main source of European borax from 1827 to 1872, when American sources replaced it.[3][4]
