Pierre Lamothe (born 18 September 1997) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for HFX Wanderers.

Early life

Lamothe was born in Greenfield Park, which later became a part of the city of Longueuil, Quebec.[1] He played youth soccer with local club CS Longueuil before joining the Montreal Impact Academy in 2011 as part of its first generation of players.[1]

Club career

Montreal Impact

After several years with the academy, Lamothe signed his first professional contract with the Impact's reserve side, FC Montreal, on 9 July 2016.[1] He made his debut in the USL on 3 August 2016 against FC Cincinnati.[2] Lamothe went on to make a total of four appearances that season.[3]

Longueuil

In 2017, Lamothe returned to his youth club, CS Longueuil, where he played for the senior side in the PLSQ, making ten appearances that season and eventually being named team captain.[4][5] In 2018, he made another eleven appearances for Longueuil.[4] That fall, he began attending Université de Montréal, where he played for the varsity team and won the national championship that year.[6] The following year, he made nine appearances for Longueuil and finished runner-up in the national varsity finals with the Carabins.[4][6]

Blainville

In 2020, Lamothe played with PLSQ champions Blainville during the league's shortened season, making one appearance.[4]

HFX Wanderers

In January 2021, Lamothe returned to professional soccer, signing a one-year contract with an option for 2022 with Canadian Premier League side HFX Wanderers.[6] He made his debut for his new club on July 1, against Valour FC. Lamothe scored his first goal for the Wanderers on July 24 against the same club, netting the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Valour.[7] In January 2022, HFX announced they had exercised Lamothe's contract option, keeping him with the side through the 2022 season.[8]

International career

In September 2015, Lamothe participated in a development camp for the Canadian U20 team led by Rob Gale.[9]
