The Persian Gulf Bridge is a 2.2-kilometre-long (1.4 mi) road-rail bridge currently under construction that will link Qeshm Island to Bandar Abbas on mainland Iran.[citation needed]
The groundbreaking ceremony for the project was attended by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on 14 March 2011.[1]
