"Mongolyn Alt" (MAK) LLC is a one of the largest privately owned conglomerates in Mongolian with roots in gold mining and later expansion into coal and copper mining. It was established by Nyamtaishir Byambaa in 1993. At that time MAK had seen the opportunity to grow within the mining sector, which was one of the main sectors to accelerate the development of Mongolia, and had chosen this sector as its core business paving the road for the future.

Early operations

During the first 10 years history MAK studied the mineral resources of Mongolia and converted certain mineral reserves into successful businesses. And also developed responsible mining, invested in the regional and environmental development, health and education sectors of Mongolia, which in turn largely contributed to the development of the Mongolian economy and society. In the following 10 years MAK have established processing and manufacturing businesses. By commissioning plants with leading technologies, such as “Euro Block Plant”, “Euro Cement Plant” and “EuroWindoor Plant”, we have been contributing to stop Mongolia’s dependency from imports and introduced a new era of innovation in the construction material sector. Further, the company have been able to create a favourable environment for Mongolian citizens to work, to be proud of their profession and skills.

  • 1993 - Mongolyn Alt (MAK) LLC was established and started its business operations with the Ikh Galt gold mine
  • 1995 - MAK founded Bumbat LLC, a Mongolian-Cana dian JV and became the 4th largest gold producer in Mongolia
  • 2000 - MAK diversified its business by commencing thermal coal production
  • 2002 - “Qinghua-MAK Naryn Sukhait” LLC, the first Mongolian-Chinese JV in mining sector, was established
  • 2007 - MAK started its mining operation at Naryn Sukhait Coal Mine
  • 2010 - The Naryn Sukhait mine produced 5 million tons of coal
  • 2015 - Commissioning of MAK Euro Block Plant
