Mokvi (Abkhazian: Мықә; Georgian: მოქვი) is a village in Abkhazia, Georgia. Located on the Mokvi river. Its elevation above sea level is around 130 m, the distance to Ochamchire is 17 km. As of 2011 the population was 939.[2] Mokvi is home to the built in 10th century by Abkhazian king Leon III.[3]

Having unilaterally declared independence from Georgia in 1992, Abkhazia is formally recognised as an independent state by 5 UN member states (two other state recognised it but then withdrew its recognition), while Georgia continues to claim it as part of its own territory, designating it as Russian-occupied territory.
