Kenneth Michael Smith (born June 1, 1948)[1] is an American politician. He served as a Democratic member for the 31st district of the Louisiana State Senate.[2]

Born in Winnfield, Louisiana, the son of P. K. Smith.[3] Smith attended at a high school, where he later graduated in 1966.[3] He attended at the Northwestern State University, where he earned his degree based on agribusiness in 1970.[3] Smith's uncles were George S. Long, Huey Long, Earl Long, Russell B. Long, Gillis William Long and Speedy Long. He was the cousin of Jimmy D. Long and Gerald Long.[3]

In 1996, Smith won the election for the 31st district of the Louisiana State Senate.[2] He succeeded politician, Donald G. Kelly.[2] Smith was then succeeded by Gerald Long for the 31st district in 2008.[3] He worked as a car dealer for Highway 84 and also Highway 167.[3] Smith changed his party to becoming a Independent politician.[4]
