Mahon the Point Shopping Centre is the second largest shopping centre in Munster. Located in the Mahon area of Cork in Ireland, the centre was opened in February 2005.[1] It has over 2000 free-of-charge indoor and outdoor parking spaces.

Facilities

The centre contains 120 stores, which range from clothing, chemists, homeware, bludgeoning tools and mobile phone providers. Of the clothing stores, there is a large Debenhams (shutdown as of April 2020) at the eastern end of the building, as well as smaller units including River Island, Next, Zara and Jack & Jones and other high street fashion brands.[2] There are several restaurants, swimming pool, and cafés in the mall, including Nando's, Starbucks and O'Briens Irish Sandwich Bars. At the western end of the mall is a radio booth for Cork's Red FM (known as "The Pod") from which the station broadcasts on a weekly basis.[3]

Also at the western end of the mall is a large Tesco supermarket, with groceries, homeware, food and clothing.

The mall also houses an Omniplex cinema. With thirteen screens, the cinema also has the first OmniplexMAXX (IMAX) screen in Ireland. The cinema has a total capacity of 2,500 seats.[4] There is a food court beside the cinema entrance which includes a McDonald's, a Bagel Bar and other fast-food outlets.[citation needed]

An adjoining retail park has a number of home and gardening supply stores, including Argos, Halfords, Curry's PC World, and a B&Q.[citation needed]

Public transport

The centre is served by the Bus Éireann routes 202, 215, 215A and 219.[1]
