Magandang Buhay (lit. 'Beautiful Life') is a Philippine morning talk show broadcast by Kapamilya Channel produced by ABS-CBN Entertainment, Originally hosted by Karla Estrada, Melai Cantiveros and Jolina Magdangal, it premiered on April 18, 2016, replacing Kris TV.[1] Cantiveros, Magdangal and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, currently serves as the hosts. The show currently airs every Weekdays from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
The title is inspired from a popular line of the same name from the drama series Dream Dad.[2]
History
Magandang Buhay began to broadcast on ABS-CBN on April 18, 2016, Weekdays at 7:30 AM, replacing Kris TV.[1] from June 21, 2016, onwards, the show moved its time slot to 8:00 AM.[3]
On March 26, 2020, Magandang Buhay aired live via Zoom due to the COVID-19's enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.[4] The show got suspended on May 5, 2020, after ABS-CBN ceased its free-to-air broadcast operations as ordered by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and Solicitor General Jose Calida.[5] as a compliance to President Rodrigo Duterte's objection to its franchise bid.
On June 15, 2020, Magandang Buhay resumed its live studio broadcast on pay cable-and-satellite via Kapamilya Channel.[6] The show later changed its time slot to 10:30 AM on October 19, 2020, following its simulcast on free-to-air channel A2Z.[7] A week later, October 26, the show's runtime reduced to 60 minutes, airing it at 11:00 AM.[8]
On June 14, 2021, Magandang Buhay returned to its 9:00 AM timeslot.[9] In a taped episode on July 22, 2022, Estrada left the show following her congressional bid;[10][11] and was replaced by a number of female celebrities such as Regine Velasquez-Alcasid and Judy Ann Santos (until her final appearance on July 25).[12] On August 8, 2022, after having been guest co-host from February to June of the same year, Velasquez-Alcasid was introduced as a full-fledged co-host for the show, in addition to introducing the show's new version (performed by Cantiveros, Magdangal, and Velasquez-Alcasid) of its theme song as part of its 6th year anniversary activities.[13]
On February 4, 2022, Magandang Buhay was pre-empted on A2Z to give way for Panata Sa Bayan: The KBP Presidential Candidates Forum 2022. The show continued to air on Kapamilya Channel & Kapamilya Online Live until it's resumption on A2Z on February 7.
