[1] The MIT Art, Design and Technology University (MIT-ADT) is an autonomous private university in Loni Kalbhor, Pune, Maharashtra, India. It is part of the MIT Group of Institutions.It is a UGC recognised multidisciplinary University and has been bestowed with the 'Best Campus Award' by ASSOCHAM.[2]

History

The MIT Group of Institutions established a campus in Loni Kalbhor in 2004. The campus was incorporated as a distinct university, MIT-ADT, in June 2016, under the provisions of the MIT Art, Design and Technology University Act, 2015.[3][4]

Academics

The institute offers Graduate and Postgraduate level courses, namely Graduate Diploma Program (GDP)[5] Postgraduate Diploma Program (PGDP)[6] in various concentrations.

Schools

  • Maharashtra Academy of Naval Education & Training. Founded in 2001. Offers a 4 year B.Tech Marine Engineering course & 3 year B.Sc. Nautical Science course.
  • The MIT Institute of Design (MITID), founded 2006: Undergraduate and post-graduate programs in industrial, communication and fashion design.[7]
  • The School of Fine Arts & Applied Arts.
  • The MIT International School of Broadcasting and Journalism (MIT-ISBJ), founded 2008: Post-graduate programs in mass communications and journalism.
  • The MIT School of Engineering: Programmes in computer engineering, aerospace engineering, mechatronics engineering, energy engineering, civil engineering, IT engineering and electronic & communication engineering.[2]
  • The College of Food Technology[2]
  • The School of Music & Performing Arts, managed by Lata Mangeshkar[2]
  • The School of Film & Television, managed by Jabbar Patel

Facilities

The campus is 120 acres large, and 3,000 students reside in the campus' residencies.[2][4]

The academic wing houses classrooms and studio space, multiple computer labs, a model shop with traditional tools as well as rapid prototyping technologies (multi-axis CNC, laser-cutting, and multiple types of 3D printing), painting facilities.

The university houses sporting facilities (Olympic size swimming pool, gymnasium, football ground, cricket ground), a fully staffed hospital, a convention center and grounds.

Awards

  • 2017: Best University campus award by the Associated Chambers of Commerce India (Assocham)[2]
