Medalists For Other NOC

From 1952 to 1988, most Kazakh athletes represented the Soviet Union. Although Kazakhstan became an independent state in 1991, during the 1992 Barcelona Games Kazakhstan and other former Soviet states (except the Baltic states) were part of the Unified Team. The National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan was founded in 1992 and became an International Olympic Committee member in 1993.[1] Since the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, the Republic of Kazakhstan participates separately, but some Kazakh athletes still compete under foreign flags, including ethnic Kazakhs born abroad and those who emigrated from Kazakhstan.
