Kathanar - The Wild Sorcerer: Part 1 is an upcoming Indian Malayalam-language fantasy adventure film starring Jayasurya in the lead role. It is directed by Rojin Thomas and written by R. Ramanand. Produced by Vijay Babu under the banner Sree Gokulam Movies, it is the first film of two cinematic parts. The film was earlier to be produced by Friday Film House but was later bankrolled by Gokulam Gopalan under his production company Sree Gokulam Movies. The film revolves around a ninth century exorcist priest named Kadamattathu Kathanar who possesses supernatural powers.[1][2]
Being made on a budget of ₹75 crore, it is one of the most expensive Malayalam films of all time.

The VFX team is headed by Senthil and Nathan and Vishnu Raj and has Neil D’Cunha as cinematographer.[3]
