Josef Hollywood is a British radio presenter, DJ, Journalist and businessman from Liverpool, England. He started his career in radio, where he presented on numerous radio stations, most notably for In Demand Radio, and DJ's at events across the UK. He currently co-hosts "The Brekky Butler" with Lee Butler across Liverpool and the North West and is CEO at Ocular Media Ltd.[2]

Early Life

Josef Hollywood was born on 26 November 2000 in Liverpool, England, the son of Ian Hollywood, a teacher, and Catherine O'Flaherty, a business woman. His father served as a flight lieutenant in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He has two siblings: an older brother, Reuben, and younger sister, Eleanor.

Hollywood attended Christleton High School in Chester, before completing his A-Levels at Liverpool Media Academy in Liverpool City Centre.

Career

Radio

Hollywood started his career, aged twelve, on Wirral Radio (formerly 7Waves Radio) [3] where he hosted "Early Weekday Breakfast" and "Weekend's with Kev Seed".[4] His first song played on the radio was "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)" by American rock band Fall Out Boy.

Josef left Wirral Radio in June 2017 to join Liverpool-based radio station Zest Liverpool. He hosted "The Evening Vibe" on the station, focusing on celebrity gossip, pop culture and trending social media stories. He is described as "Bridging the gap between fan and interviewer when featuring pop acts".[5]

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Josef presented his radio show from home.

In September 2020, Josef presented his final show on Zest, and joined In Demand Radio two weeks later. "The Brekky Butler" is a breakfast radio show hosted by Lee Butler and Josef Hollywood on In Demand Radio in Liverpool.[6][7][8][9]

Ocular Media

Following his education at Liverpool Media Academy and National Council for the Training of Journalists, Josef founded Ocular Media in March 2020.[10]

Having had an interest in media and marketing since a young age, Ocular Media is an international video production, marketing and content-creation company.[11]

Personal Life

Josef is openly gay and came out in 2020, months before being nominated for an LGBTQ+ Business Award, which he later won for "Entrepreneurial Spirit".[12][13]

Josef has been in a relationship with pharmacist, Miceal Duggan, since June 2021.[14]

Josef suffers with nerve damage to his right knee and often shares his experience with chronic nerve damage, his tablets and their side effects.
