John Daly is a player with the Galway county football team. He played in the 2022 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final.[1] The referee Sean Hurson took him to task in the closing stages and Jim McGuinness said this was unfair afterwards with the dust settled.[tone][2] Val Daly is his father. Val Daly also played for Galway and was also a manager.[3]

After getting as far as the All Ireland in 2022 John Daly won an All Star Award, joining his father as a recipient.[4] However, he was out of the running for the prestigious Footballer of the Year award.[5][6]
