DYBR (711 AM) Apple Radio was a radio station owned and operated by the Philippine Collective Media Corporation. Its studio and transmitter were located along Sagkahan Rd., Brgy. Sagkahan Picas, Tacloban.

History

1969-1972 (as The Sound of the City DYHT 690)

In 1969, DYHT commenced it's operation with the opening of DYHT - "The Sound of the City" in Tacloban under the auspices of the Philiipine Herald newspaper and Inter-Island Broadcasting Corporation in the frequency of 690 kHz. The studio and transmitter are both located in Sagkahan, Tacloban City. On September 21, 1972, when then-President Ferdinand Marcos declared Martial Law from the issuance of Proclamation 1081, DYHT, along with other RMN AM radio stations, were seized its operations.

1976-2002 (as Ang Radyo Natin/Radyo Agong/RMN)

Several years later in 1976, the station returned to the airwaves as DYHT, Ang Radyo Natin, the localized version of Manila's DZXL that used to be known as Ang Radyo Natin until December 31, 1987. The successful of its radio station was further led to the opening of sister FM station DYXY (then known as XYFM 93.9 later 99.1 in 1980), which established in 1978 and started their regular operations on September 9, 1978. At that time, the station operated daily from 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The studio are relocated in P. Burgos, Tacloban City while the transmitter is located in Mount Naga-Naga, Tacloban City. Because of this, the transmitter are now upgraded to 5 kW.

On November 23, 1978, following the switch from the NARBA-mandated 10 kHz to the adoption of the 9 kHz spacing implemented by the Geneva Frequency Plan of 1975 on AM radio stations in the Philippines and across the Asia-Pacific region, DYHT assigned its current frequency to 711 kHz. On New Year's Day of January 1, 1988, the station shifted its programming to dynamic news and public affairs station under the name Radyo Agong, which became one of the few provincial stations of Radio Mindanao Network to carry such branding, until finally adapted the RMN branding in 1999. But in 2002, the station and transmitter went off the air due to RMN's habit is cost-cutting measures. The transmitter on the other hand was demolished in 2003.

2011-2013 (as Apple Radio DYBR)

In 2011, Philippine Collective Media Corporation launched it's AM station at the frequency of 711 kHz under the branding Apple Radio. Also RMN revived it's AM station, but now affiliated it. This along with PRTV 12 and Thunder Radio 100.7 were launched. The studio and transmitter are located in Sagkahan Rd., Brgy. Sagkahan Picas, Tacloban. The station is off the air since November 2013, after its transmitter was destroyed by Typhoon Yolanda.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
