- For the purposes of this category, "West-Central Tropical Africa" is defined in accordance with the World Geographical Scheme for Recording Plant Distributions (WGSRPD), namely as a region within the botanical continent of Africa that includes the following areas, typically defined by the political boundaries of its constituents:
- Burundi
- the Central African Republic
- Cameroon
- Republic of the Congo
- the Democratic Republic of the Congo
- Cabinda Province, an exclave of Angola with flora allied with the Republic of the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
- Equatorial Guinea
- Gabon
- the Gulf of Guinea islands, including Annobón, Bioko, and São Tomé and Príncipe
- Rwanda
- Native taxa of the lowest rank are included if they occur widely in the region, otherwise they should be included in the lichens of one or more of the constituent areas. Higher taxa are included only if endemic.
