This category is for Indian lawyers who have been appointed Senior Counsel since 26 January 1950, when India became the first republic in the Commonwealth of Nations.

Prior to then, Indian lawyers were appointed King's or Queen's Counsel (K.C. or Q.C.).

Senior Counsel are entitled to the postnominal letters 'S.C.'.
