Anirudh Devgan
Anirudh Devgan, Ph.D (b. September 15th, 1969) is an Indian-American business executive, computer scientist and IEEE Fellow.
He is widely recognized as one of the world's leading authorities[citation needed] in the field of electronic design automation (EDA), having been awarded 27 US patents in electronic modeling, design, optimization, simulation, and automation.[1]
Devgan currently serves as President and CEO of Cadence Design Systems and member of the board of directors. He also serves on the boards of the Global Semiconductor Alliance and the ESD Alliance.
Early Years and Education
Devgan was born and raised in New Delhi, India, on the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi campus where his father was a professor of mathematics and statistics. He attended Delhi Public School, and later went on to the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. After graduating with a Bachelor of Technology degree in electrical engineering, he attended Carnegie Mellon University where he received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering.[2]
Career
Devgan began his career at International Business Machines Corporation (IBM)[3] where he spent 12 years in management and research at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, IBM Server Division, IBM Microelectronics Division, and IBM Austin Research Lab.
He later went to Magma Design Automation[4] where he served as Corporate Vice President and General Manager, Custom Design Business Unit.[5]
In 2012, Devgan joined Cadence Design Systems serving in a number of senior leadership roles before being named President in 2017. In 2021, Devgan joined the board of directors, and later assumed the role of CEO, taking over from Lip-Bu Tan.
In 2022, Devgan gave the keynote at the 59th Design Automation Conference, where he spoke on computational software and the future of intelligent system design.[6]

He is the recipient of a number of prestigious industry awards including:

- IBM Outstanding Innovation Award (1999)
- IBM Corporate Award (2000)
- IBM Microelectronics Division's Excellence Award (2001)
- IEEE William J. Macalla Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Computer-aided Design (2003)[7]
- Best Paper Award, Design Automation Conference (2006) [8]
- IEEE Fellow (2006)[9]
- Phil Kaufman Award (2021)[10]
According to Glassdoor.com (October, 2022), Devgan has an employee approval rating of 96%, making him one of Silicon Valley's highest-rated CEOs.[11]
Causes and Community
Devgan champions the importance of good health. In 2022, he was named chair of the Heart of the Bay campaign by the American Heart Association.[12]
Personal
Devgan resides in Silicon Valley. He is married and has two children.
