2023 Pakistan Super League (also known as PSL 8 or for sponsorship reasons HBL PSL 2023) will be the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league which was established by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2015. PCB chairman Ramiz Raja announced plans to introduce an auction to replace the draft for the 2023 version of the tournament.[1][2] PCB is likely to increase salary caps for the players and introduce a hybrid Auction/Draft model where teams will be allowed four retentions and four rounds of auction, with the remaining 12 players picked through a draft process.[3] Since the 2023 South Asian Games are also scheduled to take place in Pakistan in the same time window that PSL takes place in, the dates for the tournament were uncertain.[4] The tournament is scheduled to take place from 9 February to 19 March 2023.[5]

Venues

Pakistan Cricket Board announced plans to hold matches in Multan, Peshawar and Quetta during the 2023 season; in the previous iteration of this tournament in 2022, matches were only held in Lahore and Karachi.[6][7][8] However, it was declared that the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar is unfit to hold any matches in the tournament.[9]
