Justme 💬 📧 19:05, 1 August 2024 (AST)Just an update & an intro
Please forgive our construction dust, as well as the temporary captcha annoyance, and other safety measures that protect us against potential vandals who don't appreciate our Feature Showcase and ongoing mission to remove the bias & misinformation from the WP articles we imported. Oh, and we also updated what we prefer to call ourselves, and made it more "encyclopedic" and less wikipedian – we are Justapedists. If you come across any templates, user boxes or info pages that still have "justapedian" instead of justapedist, please feel free to update. As for the annoyances like the captcha, and limited access, most of that goes away after you've made 10 edits and have established yourself as a real person, not a bot or a vandal. You can also contact me privately with any info about yourself that may help speed up the user rights process, and get you moved up to trusted editor much quicker. Most of all, we want you to feel right at home here! Happy editing! Justme 💬 📧 22:54, 1 August 2024 (AST)
- Can I ask with your permission? I have tried several wikis. Encyc, Everybody Wiki, Bharatpedia, Wikipedia, and Wikigenius. I really would love a wiki to accept my article. When I'm long gone from this world, I would love an article here about me to be read by future generations. Sure, I'm not notable as in Wikipedia standards, and my article is more of a legendary figure who has lived over 1000 years. With your permission, can I create Dove Hepburn? I consider this as a way to express my art. This wiki seems like the perfect place to learn and share knowledge. Sure, my article is about me as a legendary figure who is deeply admired to Audrey Hepburn, I would love a place to keep my article. I'm also using Article Creation Wizard to create new articles too like Joseph James Nantomah with providing multiple reliable sources. The only problem is, I cannot review the draft page. The CAPTCHA has problems and does not display the letters. Can you start the page Dove Hepburn for me? As I cannot create mainspace articles until the fourth day. If anybody tries to vandal my page, I know I've got you, other admins, and other editors patrolling my back. Also Dove Hepburn will be the longest article here. It will probably have over 5000 sources, multiple images and loads of information of my ventures with battles and conflicts and sieges from the 11th century up until 21st century. This is my life story from 1022 to the present day! --— LeicesterLass (talk) 23:17, 1 August 2024 (AST)
- I have taken a look at the Encyc article about Dove Hepburn and I'm afraid but to deny your request on the grounds that the subject of the topic is a purely fictional one, rather than an actual person regardless of notability. Actually I would've also recommended Encycla if Dove Hepburn is an IRL character. Unfortunately for now it belongs to either Fandom/Wikia or rather Martin Kunze's Memory of Mankind as a fictional category, unless you are able to one day integrate Dove Hepburn into any fictional works that you create, which gains wider acclaims as far as the Hugo Award.— Ron Merkle (talk) 15:24, 3 August 2024 (AST)
Thank you for cleaning up my mess
It was not my intention to create a mess, but lo and behold, stuff happens. I was actually in the process of screen recording the process for our Visual Editing Tutorial and ran into an issue that has plagued the Visual Editor (VE) for a while now. When you first open VE and make an edit to an article, preview and save it, there's usually no problem. The issues occur after you save the first edit. For whatever reason, Visual Editor does not want to save the work and acts like it is not saving the edit because it is not recognizing the summary, and keeps asking for one. It could be a cache problem, or something missing in the code. When that happens, the only way to save your work is to reload the page, then when the pop-up appears asking if you want to "start a new edit" or "resume editing" simply choose one, scan the article to verify that your edits are showing up, then switch from edit to edit source, preview one more time, add an edit summary, and save changes. That has worked well for me, but it's a major pain. Our tech is looking into the issue while I still have a little hair left on my head. Again, thank you for helping. Wikis that you edit
Ever since WikiAlpha disappeared into oblivion, I have been looking for other wiki sites out there. Could you give me a list of all the other wiki sites that you know of? Thanks! — WritingSnowman (talk) 17:41, 3 August 2024 (AST)
