The Crunchyroll Anime Awards are awards given annually by the anime streaming service Crunchyroll to recognize the best anime of the previous year. Announced in December 2016, the awards were first presented in January 2017.[1] Crunchyroll describes it as a "global event [that] recognizes the anime shows, characters, and artists that fans around the world love most."[2]
The winners of the 6th Crunchyroll Anime Awards were announced on February 9, 2022 without a ceremony. Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 1 won the Anime of the Year award.[3]
Process
The nominees are selected by a panel of judges via a two-round voting process to produce the final list. Categories can be added or removed depending on fan popularity over the past years, as well as on fan feedback.[2]
The voting period is announced days prior. Announcement of nominees vary in each editions; the latest edition announced it on the first day.[4] Voting is usually open for a week, where the public can vote once per day for each categories.[2]
Winners from each category are the ones that received the most votes. 70% of the votes will come from the judges while public voting represents the remaining 30%.[2]

Hero of the Year and Villain of the Year awards were renamed as "Best Hero" and "Best Villain" respectively in 2018. However, they were renamed again in 2019 as "Best Protagonist" and "Best Antagonist" respectively.[5] On the same edition, "Best Opening" and "Best Ending" were renamed as "Best Opening Sequence" and "Best Ending Sequence" as well.

Records (as of March 2022)
- My Hero Academia earned 27 nominations including Anime of the Year twice, winning 15. Both were the highest nominations and wins each year.
- At the 2nd edition, My Hero Academia nearly swept all of the categories except the Anime of the Year, as well as earned the highest wins in a single year with 8 including an Industry Icon Award for Christopher Sabat, who voiced All Might as well as Vegeta and Piccolo from the Dragon Ball franchise.[7]
- Yuri on Ice swept all of the seven nominations in the inaugural ceremony including the Anime of the Year, amid controversy by fans.[8]
- At the 6th edition, Jujutsu Kaisen earned the highest nominations in a single year with 16.
- Megalo Box and Wonder Egg Priority are the two anime series to receive the most nominations with 11, without a win.
- Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress with 9 in 1st, Great Pretender with 10 in 5th, and Wonder Egg Priority with 11 in 6th, are the three original anime series to receive the most nominations without a win in each year or ceremony, while the latter did not earn the Anime of the Year category.
- At the 6th edition, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train won 3 out of 4 categories, earned the most nominations and wins for a film.
