This template is used to tag pages for speedy deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. There is a separate template for each criterion – see the table to the right. This template is namespace-specific: in categories, it calls {{db-c1}}, and everywhere else it calls {{db-a3}}.
If this template is used on a category, it places the page into Category:Empty categories awaiting deletion, and then also into Candidates for speedy deletion seven days after it is tagged. If it is used anywhere else, it places the page in the category Candidates for speedy deletion as empty articles and Candidates for speedy deletion immediately.
Usage
The template should be placed at the top of the page to be deleted.
Parameters

- This is the most basic form of the template.

- Bot accounts will specify the
|bot=parameter to notify the reviewing admin that the page was tagged by an automated process.
Author notification
If you nominate a category for deletion with this template, please consider placing the following code:

...on the User talk page of the main contributor(s) to the page, replacing CategoryName with the name of the category being marked for deletion. This will display the following user warning template:
A tag has been placed on [[:{{{1}}}]] indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by [[:{{{1}}}|visiting the page]] and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself.If you nominate any other type of page for deletion using this template, please consider placing the following code:
