"Number of articles"?

I think we should remove that line since, at present, they are mostly just imported from WP. — OvskMendov1 (talk) 04:06, 15 October 2023 (AST)

That actually is the number of articles contained in this encyclopedia regardless of where they originated. Justme 💬 📧 15:30, 12 November 2023 (AST)
I agree with OvskMendov1 that this number is somewhat misleading. Most people who see the statement that Justapedia has 6.5 million articles would assume this number means it has that many unique articles, but the majority of those articles are copies of Wikipedia articles that were imported automatically. It would be much more informative if the main page could list how many articles there are on Justapedia that have been significantly modified from the corresponding Wikipedia article, or that don't have an equivalent Wikipedia article at all. — Tetrapteryx (talk) 20:53, 12 November 2023 (AST)
What you are asking us to do would indeed be a misrepresentation. As I stated above, Justapedia contains that exact number of articles, some we've created, some we've modified, and some we have deleted that reduced the original import count. In order to provide and keep updating the number of articles we have changed would require rewriting the code. Are you technically qualified to do that and if so, are you volunteering to add those changes? You are both welcome to keep a running tab of the articles you created, modified, etc. on your user page or user talk page. Happy editing! Justme 💬 📧 16:08, 13 November 2023 (AST)

The Epoch Times

I'm a bit concerned about using this article as featured content illustrating JP addressing bias found on WP, per the issues I've brought up at Talk:The Epoch Times. Honestly I think a lot of the changes are if anything more biased, just in the other direction. Seriously we're actually very closely paraphrasing their website without mentioning that oh, this is what they say about themselves. — Valerie (talk) 16:48, 25 December 2023 (AST)

@Valerie: Thanks for joining, and I hope you'll stick around. Something I've learned from my past experience as a Wikipedia editor is that every person has certain blind spots with respect to types of bias that they tend to not notice, and the best way to avoid bias in articles is by ensuring they're reviewed by people who hold a variety of different perspectives. Your input here is very useful for that reason. I don't know enough about the Epoch Times to express an opinion about this particular issue, but I hope Factsfirst will take your concerns seriously. — Tetrapteryx (talk) 22:43, 25 December 2023 (AST)
Tetrapteryx, thanks! — Valerie (talk) 23:47, 25 December 2023 (AST)
Thank you for bringing that part of the bodytext to our attention, Valerie. My apologies for the late response, but we have been super busy behind the scenes, growing with new editors coming aboard, creating tutorials, and establishing protections against the CCP's brute force attacks against us, which only serves to confirm we are on the right course. We are proud to have you onboard as a new administrator. Justme 💬 📧 21:54, 17 January 2024 (AST)
