PGG Wrightson Limited (PGW) is a trusted market leading, full-service agribusiness operating across the rural supply chain throughout New Zealand for over 170 years. It was created in 2005 through the merger of Pyne Gould Guinness Limited and Wrightson Limited and has its roots in a number of stock and station agencies dating back to 1851 and Fruitfed Supplies which was originally formed in 1916 . It is one of the major suppliers to the agricultural and horticultural sectors in New Zealand providing market leading international products, and services and insurance brokerage to its customers.

PGW is clear about its strategy of driving for growth by providing its customers with sector leading expertise and innovative solutions for their farming and production needs.

PGW’s customers cover the entire rural sector from family operators through to large corporate farmers and iwi.

PGW is publicly listed in New Zealand on the NZX.

History

The result of mergers within the stock and station agency industry in New Zealand, PGG Wrightson can trace its obvious ancestry back to 1851 with the establishment of George Gould’s general store and 1861 with the establishment of Wright Stephenson & Co. Its horticultural business, Fruitfed Supplies, dates back to 1916.

Notable stock and station agencies that have merged to form PGG Wrightson include

In 2011 PGG Wrightson sold its finance division to Heartland Building Society to create a single larger rural financing organisation.[5]
