Meet: Badlegi Duniya Ki Reet is an Indian Hindi-language television drama series that premiered on August 23, 2021, on Zee TV and digitally streams on ZEE5, produced by Shashi Sumeet Productions. The show stars Ashi Singh and Shagun Pandey in the lead-roles.[1][2] It is a remake of Zee Bangla's Bokul Kotha.

Plot

The show explores the story of Meet Hooda, a spirited young tomboyish girl from Haryana who is the sole breadwinner of her family but also breaks societal rule books of gender roles by serving as a delivery agent. Her father was a police officer who sacrificed his life while in service, due to which Meet takes up all the responsibilities of her house and gives up her ambition of becoming an officer like her father. Her grandmother dislikes her reminding her that she can never be like a boy.

Meet Hooda meets Meet Ahlawat. Though they initially are at loggerheads, they soon become friends. Ahlawat falls in love with Hooda's sister Manushi and his wedding is arranged with Manushi. Ahlawat breaks his friendship with Meet because of a misunderstanding. On the wedding day, Manushi runs away and marries Kunal leading Meet Hooda to marry Meet Ahlawat. No one's happy about this especially Meet Ahlawat's mom, his sister, and he himself. Meet Ahlawat is unwilling to accept her as his wife.

Meet Ahlawat wants to meet Manushi and argues with Meet and leaves. On the way back to his house, he is beaten up by goons, and Meet Hooda comes to his rescue and saves his life. Meet Ahlawat regrets his words and starts warming up to her. Meet Hooda takes care of her husband with great care. Meet Ahlawat confronts his family members on the way they have treated and perceived Meet. Finally, Babita accepts Meet as her daughter-in-law. Meet Ahlawat wishes to start a new life with her.

At Meet Hooda's house, however, Manushi returns and convinces her mother and grandmother for her and Kunal to get married. In the midst of this, Meet's grandmother finally accepts her as her granddaughter, finally seeing her for the good person she is. Kunal wants to steal Manushi's jewellery, but his plans fail. Meet Hooda studies in the middle of the night so as not to disturb anybody. Isha acts strange around the family as she is being blackmailed by a few boys. The combination of the above two situations causes Meet Ahlawat to be convinced that Meet Hooda has fallen in love with another man, and decides to support her, even though he is clearly hurt. Meet Hooda helps Isha. Later, Meet Ahlawat's misunderstanding is cleared.

The Ahlawats decide to send Meet and Meet for their honeymoon in a luxurious resort in Rajasthan. Manushi finally finds out Kunal's true nature, who runs away with her jewellery and she and vows to get back Meet Ahlawat after seeing their lavish lifestyle. Manushi tries to sabotage Meet and Meet's relationship during the honeymoon, but all her efforts go in vain. Though Meet Ahlawat is initially shaken when he sees Manushi, with Meet's constant support and trust, he is able to control himself more. Meet and Meet become closer through this trip and their relationship becomes stronger. Meet Hooda helps a bearded man who is soon revealed to be Tejvardhan Ahlawat, Meet Ahlawat's older brother who has been missing for 3 years. He suffers from memory loss and does not remember anything. He starts to consider Meet Hooda as his friend. Tej and Meet Ahlawat reunite.

The Ahlawat family wait eagerly for them to arrive. However, when they come, Meet reveals that they lost Tej in the market. Manushi brings back Tej Ahlawat as a part of her plan to return to Meet Ahlawat's life, it was she who had caused them to separate from Tej in market. Manushi is allowed to stay at the Ahlawat house in gratitude for bringing back Tej. She plans to stay there and get back Meet Ahlawat. Manushi attempts to get closer to Meet Ahlawat. Soon Meet Hooda gets to know her intentions. Manushi targets babita and convinces her that she ran away on the wedding due to her sister. Babita wishes to have Manushi as her daughter-in-law then. Amidst all this, Meet falls for Meet Ahlawat. Meet Ahlawat soon exposes Manushi's true colours and Babita accepts Meet again.

Meet and Meet Ahlawat come closer and one night Meet Ahlawat kisses Meet in drunken state and apologies the next day for his behaviour. Meet misinterprets this and gets upset. Soon the misunderstanding is cleared.

Meet and Meet then meet Inspector Hawa Singh. It is revealed that Ashok Hooda was murdered and Hawa Singh was involved. Meet decides to join the police and vows to punish her father's killer. It is also disclosed that Ram Ahlawat and Abhay Rana are also involved. Meet goes for a nine month police training.

Meet is finally a police officer and is designated as a sub inspector. On returning she learns that Isha's alliance has been fixed with Shantanu Rana (Shanty). Meet does not support this and tries Isha to get married with Deep as they love each other. However, Meet Ahlawat and his family hate Deep for cheating on them- which he hasn't in reality. Meet also repeatedly tries to convince the family about Shanty being a wicked man but all proofs turn against her.

On the wedding day Meet proves the truth to Meet Ahlawat and his father but could not stop Isha's marriage with Shanty.

Meet finds a recording of Ashok hooda's murder but cannot see the killer. When she enquires about it, Rajwardhan Ahlawat changes the killer's face to his and takes the crime on himself to save his brother, Ram Ahlawat. Meet Ahlawat gets shattered on hearing his father's confession. Meet Ahlawat hides the recording showing his father a criminal. Meet and Meet Ahlawat consummate their marriage.

Meet finds the recording back to prove Rajwardhan's innocence. But the recording reached to Inspector Hawa Singh who arrest Rajwardhan Ahlawat, and Meet could not stop them. This made Meet Ahlawat feel betrayed by Meet and their relation got worsen. Meet manages to bail Rajwardhan out, and gradually realises that the real killer of her father is Babita's brother, Abhay Rana. Isha and Shanty get divorced.

Meet Ahlawat thanks Meet for saving his father, but asks her to give him some space in order to overcome the feeling of betrayal that he has got. He transfers Meet to other police station. Meet along with Rajwardhan's help makes Meet Ahlawat realise his love for Meet and they give the news of Meet's pregnancy.

After few months, during the photoshoot of the coming baby, Meet Ahlawat in drunken state mistakes a friend of his to be Meet and kisses her. He soon confesses the mistake to Meet and she gets angry. Meet gets labour pain the next day and Manushi Hooda rushes her to the hospital where she delivers a baby after informing to her mother in law, Babita. She calls Meet Ahlawat to tell about Meet. Manushi kidnaps the newborn and bribes a nurse to inform Babita that the baby is born dead. A shattered Babita is manipulated by Masoom and Babita decides to separate Meet and Meet Ahlawat. She informs Meet about the baby and also begs her to leave her son forever. Meet somehow discovers her baby is alive and has been kidnapped by Manushi. Manushi threatens her and so Meet bids good bye to Meet Ahlawat in a video. She rushes for her baby and goes to the place where Manushi told her to meet. Eventually Manushi burns the place in fire and Meet gets caught in it. Meet Ahlawat feels betrayed after seeing the video and also blames Babita for it.

One year later

Meet is actually alive. She is in the form of Manjari Desai who hails from Vadodara to find her baby. She is all set to take seek revenge from Manushi, Kunal and Masoom for taking away her family, husband and child.
