Highly likely to be taken in 1912: although this is undated and the date and location are not mentioned, this picture is in the same presentation, WITH SHACKLETON TO THE ANTARCTIC, and was taken at Denison Base in 1912. Hurley went to Antarctica twice more, but all the photographs from the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition 1914–1917 are known – this is not among them – and the National Library of Australia places its creation between 1907 and 1914.
