State Capitol police in the United States are law enforcement agencies charged with the provision of security police services for their respective State Capitols, including the safety of state legislatures and other government officials. Capitol police may function as part of the state police or may be an independent agency. There is also a federal capitol police agency which may provide field offices in respective States for the protection of U.S. legislatures.[1][2]
